Many animal lovers and veterinarians in particular often view circuses with suspicion when it comes to animal welfare. However, on a recent health check of three Asian elephants passing through Macon we were happy to report they were happy, healthy and well looked after. Their handlers obviously cared for them a great deal, and were most concerned that they had the appropriate shots and health certificates - if only some small animal owners cared as much!
